Collective Strings

Collective Strings

Made of three kilometers of colored rope, the collective installation is meant to develop gradually according to the way in which the city dwellers intervene in the network, according to the new connections they make and to the way in which they choose to recreate themselves in the kaleidoscopic rope jungle. The project was conceived in 2015 by Danish artist Karoline H. Larsen in order to allow people to change the public space in a creative and free manner. Collective Strings took surprising forms and changed urban spaces in Cape Town (2005), New York (2007), Bengalūru in India (2009), Marseille (2010), Zürich (2012), Stockholm (2013), Helsinki (2014), and Copenhagen (2015).

Colored People

Colored People

Colored People is a 30-year old show which was created by accident, recalls François Léger who, together with Bruno Schnebelin, has been running the company Ilotopie since 1980. The actors entirely covered in bright colors were initially part of the 1985 show L’Île aux Topies in Port Saint Louis. At the end of the performance, the artists had to walk across the town to the nearest shower and the reaction of the passers-by to the sight of colored bodies was so sensational that Léger decided to transform the incident in an artistic intervention in the public space. The show Colored People went around the world, from Canada to Brazil, Europe and Asia.
