In The Whale Street, Captain Ahab embarks on a veritable urban odyssey in pursuit of the legendary cetacean. Drifting through the streets of the city, his obsessive quest and desire for revenge seem to lead him to his doom. As the end of his journey draws near, the beast wakes up. The two sides stare at each other: the self idolizing captain and his henchmen are going to brave the chthonian creature.

The show adapts the best-selling Moby Dick on the scale of a city. The different adventures of the story are staged to the rhythm of live music, narrated thanks to the prowess of the circus artists, and the performances of the dancers. The encounter with the legendary creature, its pursuit, and their final battle make the streets of the city the pages of this spectacular novel.

July 1 2023

21:00-21:45 – Dâmboviţa River: Splaiul Independenței, Izvor Bridge

After having been presented on the Seine in Paris, on the Arno in Florence, and onthe Tiber in Rome, the fluvial show DriFT arrives in Bucharest and turns the Dâmbovița river into a theatre stage.

At first, the public approaches the banks, attracted by a penetrating flute air, and the river then seems inhabited. On the dark water, misterious silhouettes float at night, bewitched by a musician on his perched boat. Like sheepdogs around the flock, three rats surround these silhouettes and bring the stray back into the current. Traces of a disembodied living, human moults, a whole population will then cross the city at night. Where are they going, carried away by the current? What is evacuated in this way, seen from the bridges, seen from the banks, seen from the docks?

June 30 2023

16.00-16.35 – University Square (Statues area)

RoZéo is a living installation to be observed unhurriedly, a deep breath with the sky as a horizon. The artists, perched on delicate metal poles, sway gently, as if moved by an imperceptible breath. They move the sky and dance in the agitated air as they dialogue with the landscape. RoZéo does not seek to be a show, but a dialogue with the landscape, an approach for the poetics of light and contemplation. RoZéo is what we can discover unexpectedly during a stroll, what emerges there on the horizon, those aerial bodies gently tossed by the breeze, at times shaken by the wind.
